The on-site directory linked above should help you find whatever you're looking for, (lore, traits, FAQ, ToS, all that good stuff.) You may notice this site includes the shop and the masterlist, This is because both of those are being moved solely to the site, meaning our previous masterlist doc is now no longer of use, and buying items will now be hosted on the site rather than a discord channel! Please keep in mind all items will be moved to your account manually, meaning it may take some time, and we would very much appreciate cooperation on your end as well to make sure things are done swiftly and efficiently, with not a single shard out of place.

Free MYO with registration!
As promised, upon registration everyone will receive one free MYO slot, and some items too! You can "purchase" them from the shop once you've registered an account.

Missing currency, Orins, or items from your account?
Not to worry! We can easily get stuff transferred to your account here. All you need to do is send us a Report Ticket! We are also fulfilling these transfers through our Discord, and our Toyhouse.
-For currency and items, we'll need to know your old bank username!
-For Orins, we'll need proof of ownership and their masterlist number if you have it on hand. :)

Happy October, everyone! As it's a new spooky month, we have a new spooky prompt for you!
The Writing prompt is "Write about your Orin's Halloween Adventure!"
The Drawing prompt is "Draw your Orin in their Halloween costume!"
You can learn more by clicking "Show details..." on the prompt. :) 
Keep in mind, you do not need an Orin of your own to participate!
The event lasts until the end of October, so have fun, don't stress it, and get your spook on!

Secret Santa

Our lovely mod Shmoo is putting together a super fun Secret Santa event. :D
You can sign up for it, as well as learn all about it in the Google Form.

Moon seems to have opened up a little temporary booth, which seems to have a combination of free goodies, and some stuff you can purchase by participating in this month's event! New items will be periodically added, so check back often! We'll also probably let you know when this happens, and it'll probably be about midway through the month. :-) 

MONTHLY EVENT

Hmm, where is Mimmy…? You can’t seem to find her in the town plaza. For that matter, it also seems to have become quite cold near the forest… You go off in search of her.

This monthly prompt is a DTE Event with a chilling twist! Submitting at least one drawing enters you into a raffle for the event Orin, Snow Fairy! But on top of that, each entry gets you some sweet event points to be used in the event shop, and helps purify a corrupt Orin...

This monthly prompt is to... Design a new Sprite pet for the Orin Realm?! It seems that entries will be picked by RNG to be made into real, functional pets for the website, and winners get x01 of their own pet design free! You can find more information on the Prompts page, as always. :D

Something new in the cat's eye...?

It seems the Cat's Eye has a donation box up? Oh, no, not for Ingo and Yinka, they've simply agreed to help this mysterious third party with a new business endeavor... Seems there's no reward for donating, but upon reaching the donation goal of 1500 DS, something new and exciting will come to the Orin Realm...!

technical stuff

We've been hard at work doing a ton of behind-the-scenes infrastructure adjustments, bug patches, and revamping the Moderator roles and tasks! There will be some mild Moderator team role changes incoming, but nothing major! We'll let you know when this fully goes into effect, and go more in depth as to what's changing within the team when everything is sorted. :) You will also notice that the roles in our discord server are FINALLY out of Halloween mode, and back to normal. So sorry we took so long on that!

As you may recall, last month users could design a new Sprite Pet for the Orin Realm, and 3 winners would be randomly picked! We've since completed these pets, and we've provided some visuals on what these fun friends look like below! Word on the street is, one of our mods also got excited about a different pet entry, and has since asked permission to make it official too... I suppose we'll have to wait and see what this means! 

Valentine's adopt

We still have a sweet Valentine-themed adopt made by our wonderful mod RealEmnyah! You can find out how to adopt this cutie by going over here. We also have some older adopts still up for grabs in this folder!

Staff changes

Last month we mentioned that we were doing some infrastructure changes, and this month we're ready to announce it!
Most importantly, our dear species Owner Raijin will be stepping back into a "Founder" role.  On the outside not much is changing, but rather than Raijin needing to oversee the moderation group, the staff is now running the species and coming to agreements as a collective. Raijin will still have authority over the direction of traits and lore, but we'll be able to get new content out for everyone swifter this way, and take some of the pressure off them. :)

Additionally, Nat is switching from a Moderator to an Artist! 
Do be sure to wish them luck on their artsy endeavors. :D

We still need to update these changes publicly on the Mod Directory (please bear with us until that's finished,) but rest assured we've already made all the internal preparations, and things have been smooth sailing.

Bits and bobs

We have some assorted small announcements that weren't quite large enough for their own category, so we're putting them here because we still want you guys to know what's going on! 

Fun info

1. There's still about a week left for this month's prompt! The prompt is sweet and simple, "Draw or Write what 'Love' looks like for your Orin!"

2. Updated NPC descriptions. Both on Toyhouse, and on the site, our NPCs now have descriptions with some spoiler-free tidbits to give you a better idea of their personalities and dynamics. :)

3. The donation box is almost full... Only needing 100 more dreamshards now, who knows what will happen when this donation box fills! 

Technical info

4. Trade feature does not work with "pets." What we mean is, you can't currently use the site's trade feature to trade pets. Until we find a workaround, you can transfer pets directly with someone you trust, or contact a staff member to have us safely and manually handle the trade for you.

5. Added way to remove Draw-The-Orin-Above strikes. For those of you in our Discord server, you may recall that failing to complete a DTOA claim or back out on time results in a strike, and with 3 strikes you would be banned from playing DTOA. Now, you may have 1 strike lifted for every 3 completed claims!

6. Users can now switch between Orin subtypes when submitting a MYO for approval. We noticed that users were stuck submitting "Illusionists" despite "Technicians" being free, so our coder Iza went ahead and fixed that. Thank you Iza! Please note that anything above Technician is still not free, you will need the appropriate MYO slot or item to allow it. :)

Cozy Critters

So this actually happened last month, but it happened RIGHT after our last newsletter went up.. whoops! The Orin Realm now has a pet shop, and a new NPC to boot! The stock will change out from time to time, so be sure to check back often! We'll also announce shop updates in our discord.

The realm is long overdue for a permanent on-site activity (not that we don't love you, Draw-The-Orin-Above!) and with the gifting corner, you can earn dreamshards twice per month just by drawing someone else gift art!

3. A brand new special item, the Iridophos Potion released this month! This item allows for a canon color alt. :D

4. We can't share details yet, but we've been having some discussions pertaining species lore lately, and we're super excited to get that ready for release!

Orins! ..centaurs? Centorins?!

Oh my gosh, we are SO excited to announce this one! As of now, Centorins are a valid canon form!! This means you can use them for prompts and official art, so long as they abide by the guidelines. :3 To celebrate, we've also got a super fun flash prompt for you! 

Egg hunt

There are eggs scattered all around the realm, if you find one, shoot us a monthly prompt submission! :D if you've already been participating in the egg hunt, you'll be pleased to know that new eggs have been hidden... for those in need of even more enrichment, we have a first-come-first-serve egg hunt on our discord server as well!

SPECIAL MYO TURN-IN EVENT

For the entire month of April, you can join our Special MYO event to get a free time-limited Uncommon MYO! Further instructions on how to get in on the action can by found on the Toyhouse Bulletin!

There is currently an Event Shop open for our Easter Egg Hunt! Additionally, there are some new pets for adoption in Cal's Cozy Critters. :D

Our Lore Page is now fully up-to-date! As well as touting some updated visuals and more in-depth explanations of Orin physiology, Hollow & Corrupt Lore is now available for reading!

Monthly Prompt

There is still plenty of time to check out this month's prompt, Draw/Write about your Orin interacting with a bug!

As well as the prompt, there are also some new bug-themed pets! You may be able to try your luck at Cozy Critters for some, but others are best “caught” by doing the monthly prompt!

Guest Artist Applications

Have you ever wanted to design Orin adoptables? This is the application for you! If we accept your application, you will be granted a Temporary, 2 month long Guest Artist position, wherein you may make and adopt out your own Orin designs! Please keep in mind you must be 16+ to apply, and 18+ to accept real-world currency. :)

Whether you are a returning applicant or a newcomer, we welcome you to reapply!

gallery revamp!

Some of you may be aware that we have not been on top of the sub-folders for our Gallery, which has been locking users out of using it to submit their prompts. We have fixed this issue by changing the Gallery formatting entirely! Users may now submit directly to the big galleries without worrying about the accessibility or clutter of Sub-Galleries.

In addition to making this change, we have added a Gallery for General Orin Art, where you may share any Orin-related art that it is not related to an Event or Prompt.

We have also utilized the Gallery feature to create an Archive of artwork and dialogue from previous Orin events, so that you may peruse them even well after they have ended. This can be found at the bottom of the Gallery List.

Easter Egg Hunt

The return of the annual Easter egg hunt: find eggs for fun and fortune!

• A total of five (5) eggs have been hidden around the site.
• Check out the Easter Egg Hunt for the first clue.
• If you see an egg like this: Click it!
• This will lead you to the Easter Egg Hunt page to claim your prize and a clue to the next egg.

Spend your Rewards in the Easter Shop

• Each egg that you find will reward an Easter Egg item that contains 10 Easter Candy
• To receive your Easter Candy, open the Easter Egg item in your inventory.
• Head over to the Easter Shop to spend your Easter Candy! Prizes include springtime pets, trait items, and a new limited MYO type.
• The special Easter MYO is like a common MYO, but allows the user to use any Easter-related traits to freely apply to your Orin!
• Easter traits:
  • Shaped Bauble (Uncommon) - Egg-shaped Bauble
  • Budding (Uncommon) - Flowers
  • Lopped Ears (Uncommon) - Lopped Bunny Ears

• Prep for Artfight! Are you an avid Artfighter? Upload your Orins to Artfight, the annual art trading game, and draw other's Orins to gain twice the Dreamshards.
• As a user in the Discord server pointed out, the Navigating and Using the Site page had a bunch of broken pictures since Discord stopped hosting images. Throughout the past month, we've worked on restoring those images, and now the Nav Tutorial guide is back up and looking spiffy! We'll work to update the rest of our Directory pages too, which includes the New User Guide.

• The Home and About page have been revamped! Thanks strabi for the shiny new coat of paint.
  • The Home page shows off a random Featured Character every day.
  • You can now select a personal Featured Character in My Characters.  That Orin will randomly say a line of dialogue from a list of over 300 options after each page refresh, courtesty of strabi and paper !
• In server, Dyno will not delete messages with 'too many attachments' anymore. No more lost art.
• As the Tiny Box does not reset daily, we've made it into a one time purchase for new users. We'll work on implmenting a different daily in the meantime.
• We are aware that there is a Server 500 error when users request a verification email sent to their personal emails. If you need help updating your email, please ask in server or submit a Report for help.

End-of-the-Year Prompt Hiatus

Phew, the mods have been slogging over the past year. This is an early announcement, but the Orin mod team will be taking a break from prompts for the months of November and December. All other site activities, such as design and seasonal prompt approvals, will continue as normal. But all small Flash Prompts and events will be put on pause for the holidays. In the mean time, we'll be looking to regroup and possibly expand-- more information about that in next month's newsletter!

❓Poll! Weekly Dreamshard Prompt

Well, instead of flash prompts, we just might implement something else. Since the daily Tiny Box has never worked as expected (rattling that evil little box in my hooves!!), we present to you this idea: for the month of November and December, would you be interested in a weekly prompt to receive free Dreamshards? Drop a comment down below or in the Discord if this excites you!

• Following up on the email verification issue, the core issue is that our email provider stopped hosting a free tier. We're looking to switch to a new email provider; in the meantime, please ask in server or submit a Report for help.

October is the last month for the Harvest Festival Seasonal Prompt and the increased Night Flares drop. If you're looking to stack up on Night Flares for the rest of the year, now's the time to participate in the Harvest Festival! After this month is over, all autumn seasonals (prompt, pet boxes, shops) will have their stocks removed.

Starting next month, for November through December, the Realm of Orin will be a bit quieter; maybe it's the winter cold keeping the Orins indoors. No flash prompts will released during this time to allow the mods some time to regroup and prep for next year (oho?). The Winter Seasonal Prompt will release as normal and instead, a different prompt will be released...

Weekly Free Dreamshards

Following the poll released last month (and thank you Squidily for the kind feedback!) we're pleased to release a Weekly Free Dreamshard prompt. Something is creeping...

The Harvest Festival has been celebrated in full swing for the past couple months, but this month is particularly special-- it's Halloween soon, after all! Orins are gearing up for tricks, treats, and pranks. While the spookiness is all for fun and games, something is creeping in the back of the Realm residents' minds. Something hair-raising and bauble-shaking, something sinister and distorted. There's a faint sizzling sound as Orins turn into sudden dead-end corners, and the feeling that an imminent event is bound to happen. A new figure graces the Realm, and it's not a welcome sight.

What could this mean? 

Winter hath cometh! Windows are being shuttered and fireplaces are getting lit to prepare for the bitter chill that will soon sweep the Realm. How does your Orin react to this season? Draw or write about your Orin in the Winter Seasonal Prompt for Dreamshards , a small chance of Nightflares, and new winter seasonal pets!

Weekly Free Dreamshards

As promised, the weekly Dreamshard freebie! Just open up the prompt, scroll to the bottom. and click submit. Nothing to it, easy peasy!

While this is technically listed as a prompt, you don't need to do anything besides submitting it to receive your reward. To be a bit nerdy, this is because the Realm of Orin's Lorekeeper site isn't as up to date as other LK sites (we're just that old!), so we make daily clickables as submittable prompts instead.

Prompt Hiatus

For November and December, the staff at the Realm of Orin will be taking a break! The only prompt that will run throughout this time is the Winter Seasonal Prompt, and any running events, such as the Invite Raffle and the Purification event, will end within the month. The Gifting Corner will always stay open though!

During this time, the staff hope to refurbish the site, plan enticing events, and gear up to make Orins a more active community. For the next year, we're looking to bring more creative minds to the staff team, encourage a thriving Orin economy, and expand upon the Realm of Orin lore to dive deeper into character development. And with that, we thank everyone who's stuck with us since the beginning, or have joined more recently! 

❓Poll! Secret Santa interest?

Even with the prompt hiatus going on, the staff team want to see if there's interest in participating in a Secret Santa, as we've done in previous years. The Secret Santa will gather responses in late November / early December, and will be mostly done over January. If you're interested in participating in this year's Secret Santa, let us know in the comments or in the Discord poll in #announcements. If we get 3 or more members interested, we'll host an Orin Secret Santa!

• The New User Guide has materalized! New users to the Realm of Orin site can use it to get an easy understanding of the site, or even older veteran users may find its steps and tricks useful. Credits to chuwigirls for creating this guide.
• The Traits are slowly getting more information added to them in their Encyclopedia entries... We aim to make the Trait entries comprehensive and expansive, to fully illustrate the extent of possibilities. Upgrading the Trait database, here we go! Kudos to paper for starting on this daunting task.
• Interested in helping out with the species and being a mod? We plan to open applications sometime next year, after the prompt hiatus. We need more hooves to keep this community running, and are looking to you for help!

The Weekly Dreamshard, which replaced the broken Tiny Box, is now replaced by the Dreampool! strabi was able to wrangle Lorekeeper extensions and add Dailies to the Realm of Orin site, so massive thanks to them. We also updated the drop rates, so yes, you will receive at least one Dreamshard a day (no more disappointing You received:                  ). If you do notice any site oddities or anomalies, please report anything in #site-bugs channel in the Discord server or making a Report on site.

Christmas Celebration

On top of the Dreampool daily, is a special month-long Christmas Celebration daily.  This event will run from Dec 1st - 31st, with 25 prizes to claim. Snowflakes are an exclusive currency for this holiday event, which can be spent at the returning Holiday Shop. The Christmas Celebration daily differs from the Dreampool as it is a progressive daily-- you must claim each day before the reset to progress to the next prize, which can be shown at the bottom of the daily's page. After 25 consecutive days of claiming, you've completed the Christmas Celebration and will have reaped all the rewards!

Please be warned, if you miss day, you do reset your progress. If you want a daily reminder, grab the @daily role in the #roles-and-resources channel in the Discord server so you won't miss out. This daily role replaces the weekly dreamshard role, so if you already grabbed that, you're all set.

Secret Santa updates

Thanks for signing up for the Secret Santa! Everyone should received their giftee via Discord DMs, and will have until January 24th to submit your piece to the #secret-santa channel in the Discord server. Please note, we've updated some rules:

• Designing a Orin does not earn you Dreamshards, as you are designing an unofficial Orin. But you will still get a Winter Pet Box for participation!
• You cannot submit your Secret Santa piece to the Gifting Corner and double dip. To receive Dreamshards for your art, make sure to submit a Claim.
• If you finished your piece early, we ask you submit to Claims for your reward on or after January 24th, when the Secret Santa is revealed. We have some mods participating in the event, so we wouldn't want to spoil it for them.
• Feel free to leave any feedback by replying to this comment HERE or in the #suggestions channel in the Discord server. This is the first year we're using this format on-site, so any nitpicks are appreciated to clean up the event for next year.

Mod... expectations!

We've been teasing the upcoming mod application openings, so here's some concrete proof of what to expect: 2025 Orin Mod application sneak peek Google Docs. This is just a WIP form, so details are subject to change as we work out what's needed. If you're interested, here's what you need to know:

• Must be 18+ years or older.
• Have a Discord and a Realm of Orin site account.
• Any prospective mod must be willing and able to dedicate their time and effort.
• You do not need to have any prior experience, have an Orin, or be active in the group-- we consider anyone who willing to lend an Orin hoof! (Did you know, that's how Paper started out? Now she's the dear owner!)
• This is an entirely unpaid and volunteer position. No direct monetary compensation is offered. Instead, to reward your efforts, mods will receive rewards and privileges within the ARPG to compensate for your effort.

If you have some free time and want to see if you can help out within the Realm of Orin, nows the time to start planning!

Secret Santa reminder

The Secret Santa is due on January 24th, which is in about 3 weeks! If you haven't started on your piece, now's the time. Another reminder will be sent on January 8th, and a final reminder will be sent on January 17th. chuwigirls will ask for proof of progress on January 17th. If you're unable to finish your piece, letting us know by January 17th, a week before the due date, is best! This is so that backup elves are able to deliver a piece for everyone at the end of this Secret Santa.

At the end of the event, everyone can reveal their gifts in the #secret-santa🌲 channel in the Discord. You can then submit your Secret Santa as a Claim to earn rewards for your participation!

As you travel through the dreamy hills of the Realm, you encounter a large figure... 

"My name is Valka. Are you looking to join the cause?"

The Guardian Quest has been released!

NPC-763 Valka endeavors Orins across the Realm to strengthen their magic. She brings a new permanent type of Prompt, called Quests. The first of these Quests allows your Orin to change their subtype from an Illusionist or Technician into a three-horned Guardian. Most Orins in the Realm only have a moducum of magic, as one or two horns were the only freely usuable subtypes for a long while. But with three horns, Guardian Orins become great protectors and renowned fighters, warding off the Corrupted at the front lines.

"Go forth, brave Orins. I, Eclipse, shall welcome those who have proven themselves into the ranks of Guardianhood with open hooves." 

While NPC-763 Valka trains Orins to become Guardians, it takes the magical prowess of a Celestial to bestow a graduate their status as a Guardian; a role that NPC-818 Eclipse is enthusiastic about. In truth, she merely has a fun-loving streak, and wishes to attend the after-parties. Nevertheless, she will dutifully carry out her role.

It seems becoming a Celestial may be the final ascension to mastering Orin magic...

The Relaunch Daily awards additional Dreamshards and items, and is free to click every day. The Relaunch Daily will last for 28 days, and the earliest you can receive the grand prize is on February 5th. The Relaunch Daily will stay open until February 15th for any missed days and for people who started late.

Wait, why did we say 'free to click' ...? Haven't all the dailies been free so far?

paper has also uncovered a mysterious Ominous Button... Be wary, young Orin, if you dare press it.
The Ominous Button daily is a permanent daily, so if you ever have some spare Dreamshards, why not try your luck?

🔎 Let's tour the site! - Scavenger Hunt 🔎

Over 2025, strabi has worked hard in fixing the site and implementing new fun extensions, like the dalies and the scavenger hunt. We introduced scavenger hunts during the Easter event, and the Realm of Orin saw a resurgence! We bring back the scavenger hunt extention to take a tour of the site's latest additions, from paper writing out trait descriptions to the raffles feature that rehomed many new Orins.

Check out your progress and clues in the Relaunch Tour Hunt. 

There are a total of 5 Tiny Boxes hidden around the site. 
This is a pretty easy scavenger hunt! To note, targets will not be hidden in user profiles, on any characters outside of NPCs, or on newsletters in 2025. Basic knowledge of Orin traits and of the site are needed to navigate this scavenger hunt. You can ask for clues or help from other users in the comments below or in the Discord server, but do not release any hints publicly!

Unfortunately, the site has been slow for the past couple months. It's been much more noticeable over the past month, especially with an uptick in site activity for the Relaunch Event. We're working on narrowing down the issue, and we apologize on the inconvenience it's causing.

We recommend using the site between 8 am - 8 pm PST. What time is that for me? Cloudflare, the site's server host, is based in California, and we noticed the site works best during the daytime hours for the host. We'll move the Dreamshard ping to 8 am PST, as the site should work after that time.

If you're worried about missing out on the Relaunch Daily, the event will continue until February 15th, so you have an additional 10 days to collect rewards. We can manually grant any missed rewards after the event as well. If you have an issue with submitting a prompt, you're free to submit proof of your prompt in the #qna-hub channel in the Discord, and we can manually grant rewards past prompt end dates.

Make sure the Orins you own on Toyhouse are also under your Realm of Orin site username! 

There are quite a few Orins still under the admin account or DeviantArt URLs. If you own an Orin off site and need them transferred under your Realm of Orin site account, you can send in a Report or a transfer request in #errorins channel in the Discord server.  All we need is the Orin's site masterlist link and proof of ownership, such as Toyhouse ownership logs or confirmation from the old owner/seller. Ensure your Orins are rightfully yours!

An announcement will be sent in the Discord server to further remind users.
