You can find this guide by navigating to Directory in the navigation bar, under the heading Using the Site.

The Starter Pack also drops two Trait Items of random rarities. With Trait Items, you can apply new traits to your Orin and upgrade their look. This is where the fun in designing Orins comes in... To see what's possible, why don't you browse the Traits Guide?

Let's go over the Trait Rarities that the guide mentions, and how it ties in to Trait Items:

✦✧✧ Common traits

• Your Starter MYO can use any traits for free from this tier!
• Does not need an item to add a new Common trait
• All MYOs can use any Common traits
• Illusionist (one horn) and Technician (two horns) Orins can be freely created

✦✦✧ Uncommon traits

• Consumes a Bottled Wish to apply a new Uncommon trait
• Uncommon MYOs can use any amount of Uncommon  and Common traits

✦✦✦ Rare traits

• Consumes a Wishing Star to apply a new Rare trait
• Rare MYOs can use any amount of Rare, Uncommon, and Common traits

❉ Cosmetic traits

• Consumes a Crea's Blessing to apply a new Cosmetic trait

✪ Mutation traits

• Consumes a Frea's Curse to apply a new Mutation trait

Orin traits are versatile and fluid. Your Orin can have objects for horns, baubles of so many shapes, both feathery and leathery wings, bodies of water, lava, or stone-- whatever your heart desires! Our traits allow creative freedom, such as combining, stacking, or unlimited trait usage.

What better way to show off Orin design creativity by looking at staff designs?

If you want more ideas, you can browse traits on Orins in two different ways:

• Search through the Encyclopedia and clicking on the magnifying glass next to the trait name.
• Use the Filters in the Character Masterlist to refine your search even further.

To obtain Trait Items, the Cat's Eye shop run by Yinka and Ingo offers all neccessities year-round. Pop-up events and prompts can also sell Trait Items, so watch out for discounts and freebies!

To obtain Trait Items and MYOs, you will need to obtain the Realm of Orin's different currencies. Let's go through them!

Dreamshards

• The most common currency in the Realm of Orin. All normal prompts drop DS and most items in the Shops can be bought with this currency, including MYOs, Trait and Redesign Items, Pets, and Raffle Tickets.

Nightflares

• A rare currency in the Realm of Orin; appearing most frequently during October. Only certain prompts have a chance of dropping NF   which can buy Frea's Curse in the Cat's Eye shop for Mutation Rarity Traits.

Purification Points

• Only obtainable through Purification Events. PP is used in the Purification Shop and can buy rarer items and Pets.

Other event currencies

Easter Candy

• Collected through the annual Easter Egg scavenger hunt. EC can be used in the Easter Shop and buy Easter-related MYOs, items, and Pets.

Seastars

• A summertime currency seen around or after Mermay.

Snowflakes

• A wintertime currency to celebrate the holidays.

Currently, all MYOs and Trait Items are obtainable only on-site or through users, and cannot be bought monetarily except through limited MYO sales. Group currencies do not have any monetary value, and cannot be resold for money-- only art, trades, or as gifts.

To obtain currency, the Realm of Orin is always hosting prompts and events for users to take part in and grow their Orin. Prompts are the most readily available way to earn Dreamshards, with different themes and effort values. Within prompts, special events may appear during the holiday season or randomly, and offer unique rewards and other currencies.

Don't have an Orin of your own yet? You can draw any of the NPCs, ask for users to volunteer their Orins in the #reqs-and-freebs channel in the Discord server, or use filters in the Character Masterlist to search for Orins that can be gifted art or writing.

Let's go through the different prompts:

Gifting Corner

• Permanent activity
• Draw another person's Orin twice a month!
• Awards 5+ Dreamshards

Seasonal Prompts

• The theme and awards cycles every 3 months
• Awards 5+ Dreamshards  and a seasonal Pet Box
• During October, Nightflares have an increased drop rate

Flash Prompts

• Announced at the start of the month in Newsletters 
• Awards Dreamshards 
• During October, Nightflares have a chance of dropping
• Small effort for small rewards
• Durations differ! FPs can pop up for 24 hours or run for a couple weeks at a time
• Some FPs are scavenger hunts; users find different types of Orins, traits, pets, etc in the Character Masterlist
• Other FPs are small doodle or written prompts

Invite Raffles

• Occurs on the 15th of every month
• You have a chance of winning the raffle Orin, Dreamshards , or a seasonal pet box!
• Advertise the Realm of Orin to enter the raffle and win one of the three prizes

Draw the Orin Above mini-game

• Permanent activity
• Awards 15 Dreamshards
• Currently hosted in the Discord server, in the channel #draw-the-orin-above
• Claim the last posted Orin in the channel, then draw a shaded bust or a flat fullbody
• Submit the finished image in the channel as proof you've finished, and to get art of your own Orin!
• To claim Dreamshards, submit as a Claim under the Submit button in the navbar

Monthly Prompts

• Celebrates events or holidays, such as Merorins for Mermay, Easter, or Secret Santa
• May award Dreamshards or event currency
• Keep a look out in the News tab to see if there's a Monthly Prompt running!

Purification Events

• A special type of Draw to Enter raffle! Watch out for the Corrupt Orin!
• Appears randomly throughout the year
• All art entries reward Purification Points
• The first entry enters you into the raffle to win the Corrupted Orin
• Once there are enough entries, the Corrupted Orin will be Purified!

• Is the Orin from the Starter MYO slot giftable, tradable, or sellable?

Short answer: yes, with some stipulations. The Starter MYO Slot itself is non-transferable until a design is made. Once a design has been approved, there is a 3 month cooldown for Starter MYOs, then you can gift or trade your Orin. While other MYOs have a 14 day cooldown, the Starter MYO is special to promote engagment and connection with your Orin design. Orins made from MYOs not bought with money have no monetary value, and cannot be resold until they are appraised.

• Can I check if my Starter MYO design is acceptable before I send it in for approval onsite?

You're more than welcome to send your work in progress Orin design in the Discord server! The channels #qna-hub or #design-wips are the best places for checks and general feedback.

• Can I make sure that my planned trait is usable and what/how many trait items it would need before approval?

Yup! Feel free to ask in the Discord server, in the  #qna-hub channel, and we're break down your traits for you. Orin traits can get a bit tricky and stacked, so we can work out the least expensive option for your vision. If you aren't in the Discord, you can submit your Orin design for approval, and any adjustments will be made during the approval process.

• How do I get more Orins?

The most basic way is to participate in prompts, earn Dreamshards, and buy MYOs from the Cat's Eye shop. Some events award different currencies to get different MYOs, Trait Items, and event currencies to gain more chances at MYOs, if the monthly stock has run out. The best way to get another Orin is by entering the monthly Invite Raffles! And if you're looking for a very special Orin, Purification Events grant you a chance to win the featured Corrupted Orin.

• How can I make my Orin a Guardian or Celestial subtype? / How can I give my Orin 3+ horns or replace their horn with a floating magic vessel?

Currently, those subtypes and traits are locked and for staff use only. We plan to integrate these traits in the future, expanding upon the Realm of Orin lore with some unique quests!
